Samsung ratings and reviews.
As with most of Samsung's LN-T line, the picture and sound quality is
high. The look of this model is every bit as good as the picture and
sound quality with a sleek, glossy black design, hidden surround sound
speakers, and even a cool blue light which emanates from the bottom of
the TV (can be turned off). Unfortunately, some of the problems - which
are common with some high definition televisions - appear with this
model.
Despite the great job Samsung has done with their LCD Backlight
technology, some new owners have stated a problem with light showing
through the top and bottom of the screen. This is known as "backlight
bleed" and is more prominent when viewing darker images. I should say
that not all consumers have found this to be a problem, but enough that
potential buyers should be made aware of it. Keep in mind that you
probably won't see this light bleed while viewing the TV in a
department store because of the bright, florescent lights. These bars
of light are more prominent when the television is viewed in darker
environments.
The Toyman gives his personal review after purchasing this 26" HDTV:
However, when I sat back to start watching some
programs, the beauty of this television turned out to be only skin
deep. I became distracted by the backlight spill-over on the top and
bottom of the screen. LCD screens that aren't properly insulated from
the backlight can sometimes have light leak through onto the screen.
This washes out areas of the screen and appears pronounced during dark
scenes. The Samsung had a uniform amount of spillover on the top and
bottom inch of the screen. At first I thought I may have had a
defective unit, but some digging online revealed that I was not alone
in noticing this problem.
Another problem is the LN-T1953H doesn't give you the option to
manually save channels after running the automatic search. This can be
a problem with cable TV, when an antenna is used or both. Let's say you
upgrade your cable service, or they add some channels out of the
kindness of their hearts for free...yea right. You'll have to run a new
scan each time a change is made to your service. A better example is
with the use of an antenna. You run the auto channel search then
re-adjust the antenna and find some more channels you'd like to add. In
this case your stuck with first set you picked up on the first scan. A
problem for some, not such a big deal for others. Reviewers on
Amazon.com give the LN-T1953H an overall rating of 31/2 stars.
Not everyone experiences the problem with light bleed, so should you
decide to go ahead and purchase this HDTV, and you discover the problem
is unacceptable, I would recommend returning it for another model.
Don't waist your time with getting it repaired or replaced.
