LCD TV panels may be in short supply in 2008 according to Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) as reported by Digital Times. The shortage will extend beyond the 32-inch segment to include 40-inch panels and above. This shortage could prevent drastic price drops on LCDs and it is likely the shortage will cause increases in prices. 32-inch LCD TVs are the mainstream size and are replacing CRT TVs in the 20-inch to 32-inch segments. A shortage in the 2nd quarter of 2007 already constrained market growth in this segmant. It looks like the plasmas in this segment may have an easy run in 2008 and if you're looking for an LCD in this size range, this may be a good time to buy it.
