Is there an end in site for the High-Def format war. According to to a forecast in a new report from Screen Digest, the U.K. based research firm, the outcome will be decided in 2008. Although Screen Digest does not predict which format may end up the "winner", analyst Richard Cooper says
It would only take one major player to shift allegiances to push the tipping point one way or another. They then add The availability of high-def discs --
will decide which format wins. As of now, four major studios support
Blu-ray exclusively while two support HD DVD Currently, Sony, 20th Centery Fox, and Disney exclusivly support Blu-ray, while Dreamworks Entertainment and Universal have supported HD-DVD from the beginning. For a while Warner and Paramount supported both formats, but Paramount has switched to HD-DVD. With prices falling all year, the roles of the studios is more important. As I stated in an earlier article on the format war , if you haven't purchased one of these players, or both, you might want to wait. It looks like the end may be in site.
